Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental health awareness week with PLH Medical

We know most of you spend your time looking after others, but here at PLH Medical we want you all to take some time, connect with nature, and focus on you.

Nature is an amazing healer and plays an important part in protecting and supporting our mental health. So take a moment to bring it into your everyday life. We know this may be easier said than done, but with this blog we aim to share some ways this can be achieved, no matter where you are.

Nature is everywhere.

For those of you living city life, it may be harder to find, but try to pay attention to the little details. Whether that’s listening to the birds, looking out for changes in the weather, or even taking care of a houseplant!

Take some time.

Have some quiet time and reflect on your surroundings, it can be on your way to work, in the garden or on your break. Try to find one thing that’s positive, even these little moments can mean a lot when it comes to your overall mental health. Positivity breeds positivity!

Go on an adventure!

It doesn’t even have to be far, just aim to go somewhere new. Too busy? Why not take a different route to work! If it feels a little daunting to go out, invite someone with you, a friend or a relative will add to the adventure.

Bring nature to you.

If all else fails, or you don’t feel comfortable venturing out yet, bring nature to you! Houseplants are an easy and effective way of bringing some nature into your life, you can even get some that don’t require high levels of attention (even I can keep them alive!) which may be a good starting point.

If houseplants aren’t your thing, you can also connect with nature through your TV. Take some time to watch a documentary, maybe a gardening program, or even a film.

Obviously these are only a few ways to bring some nature into your life, but for a more in depth look at the things you can do, we highly recommend taking a look at the following website.

And remember, take some time to look after yourself!
